Ümit Özdağ Transferred to Hospital from Prison for Checkup

Ümit Özdağ, leader of the Zafer Party, who has been in pre-trial detention at Marmara Prison in Silivri since January 19, was transferred to Başakşehir Çam and Sakura City Hospital on Tuesday morning. According to early details reported by Cumhuriyet, the hospital visit was not linked to any serious medical condition, but rather followed a previously scheduled appointment for a routine health checkup.
Arrested Over Alleged Incitement Through Media
Özdağ has been detained since January 19 on charges of “inciting hatred and hostility through mass media in a continuous manner.” His detention at Marmara Cezaevi has drawn political attention, but sources clarified that his recent hospital visit was not due to any emergency.
He is expected to return to prison later the same day following completion of the medical checks.
