Mansur Yavaş Presidential Candidacy Claims Officially Refuted

The Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB) has issued a formal statement dismissing recent media reports claiming that Mayor Mansur Yavaş declared his intention to run for president “under all circumstances.” The municipality labeled these reports as entirely speculative, clarifying that the topic of candidacy has not been a part of the Mayor’s recent high-level political engagements.

Mansur Yavaş’s Presidential Candidacy Discussions

As debates regarding the upcoming presidential elections continue to dominate the Turkish political landscape, a report published in a pro-government outlet suggested that Yavaş had made definitive statements about his candidacy behind closed doors. In response, the ABB Press Department released a briefing note to correct the record and prevent the spread of misinformation.

According to the official statement, the claims are “completely fabricated.” The municipality emphasized that during recent critical meetings—specifically those with CHP Chairman Özgür Özel and various municipal leaders—the issue of presidential candidacy was never raised or discussed.

Priority Remains Service to Ankara

The municipality’s clarification sought to redirect public attention away from political rumors and toward the local government’s administrative goals. The briefing note underscored that the Mayor remains focused on his current mandate rather than future political positioning.

“The priority and sole agenda of Mr. Mansur Yavaş is to provide uninterrupted and superior service to the people of Ankara,” the statement concluded. By prioritizing municipal projects over political polemics, Yavaş’s office aims to maintain a clear distinction between local governance and the national election cycle.
