Turkish parliament is full of criminals 😂

mafya

According to staunchly pro-AKP Turkiye Gazette, the Turkish parliament is full of criminals which are out of prison only because of immunity. Under Erdogan criminilazing opponents has become routine, but the opprresssion goes beyond political rivals. In 2025, 300 thousand Turks have been put on trial for political crimes, mostly for unsavory social media posting. Is it fair to say that Turkey has become an open-air detention facility? 😂

Welcome to the Grand Bazaar of Lawsuits! 🏛️✨

If you thought the Grand Bazaar was crowded, wait until you see the Turkish Parliament’s legal “shopping list.” While Greece is busy stripping immunity from 13 MPs over some farm subsidy drama, Turkey is playing in the big leagues. We’re talking about 1,052 summary of proceedings hanging over the heads of roughly 150 MPs. It’s like a VIP club where the cover charge is a pending court case!

The Leaderboard: Who’s Winning the Lawsuit Lottery? 🏆

The “Most Wanted” list isn’t for outlaws; it’s for politicians! Leading the pack is CHP leader Özgür Özel, who is lugging around a staggering 52 dossiers. He’s officially the “Fezleke King” of both his party and the opposition.

But wait, the distribution of these legal love letters is quite the mosaic:

  • DEM Party: Holding a massive 628 files.

  • CHP: About 70 out of 138 MPs are juggling 325 dossiers.

  • The Rest: AK Party, MHP, and others are sharing a modest 99 files.

In Ankara, checking your legal dossiers is the new checking your morning emails! 📧⚖️

Election Day or Musical Chairs? 🗳️🎶

In Turkey, voting is like playing a high-stakes game of “Will my candidate still be there tomorrow?” Since the 2024 elections, the “Trustee-Go-Round” has been in full swing.

  • 31 Mayors have been shown the exit.

  • 13 Municipalities now have government-appointed trustees.

  • 55 Mayors decided life was better on the other side and joined the AKP or MHP.

Essentially, nearly 9 million votes from the last election have vanished into the bureaucratic ether. It’s a magic trick that even Houdini would find impressive! 🪄✨

The 2026 Roundup: Everyone’s Invited! 🚔🎉

The party doesn’t stop at the parliament. From April 2026, the guest list for detentions has expanded:

  • The Youth: 96 activists from the DEM Party Youth Assembly were scooped up in one go. Even the CHP Nazilli and Erzincan youth leaders got their “invitations” for social media posts or “insults.”

  • The Councils: From Manavgat to Mersin, dozens of deputy mayors and council members are joining the fray.

By the Numbers: The “Open-Air” Reality 📊

If you feel like someone is watching your tweets, you’re probably right! In 2025 alone, 340,052 people were investigated for political crimes. That’s enough people to fill a medium-sized city!

The Prison Peak: * Population: A record-breaking 419,194 inmates.

  • Capacity: Roughly 304,608.

  • The Math: It’s getting a bit cozy in there, isn’t it? 🛌🏘️

Whether it’s journalists (40 arrested in 2025), activists, or just someone who had a bad day on X (formerly Twitter), the legal system is busier than a kebab shop at lunchtime.

So, is Turkey a detention facility? Or just a place where the law is very, very enthusiastic? Either way, keep your lawyers close and your social media passwords closer! 😉
