Central Bank Reports Decline in Industrial Capacity Utilization

cbrt

Turkey’s manufacturing sector experienced a slight downturn in April, as the seasonally adjusted Capacity Utilization Rate (CUR-MA) fell by 0.6 percentage points to 74.6%, according to data released by the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT).

The unadjusted CUR also showed a marginal decrease, dipping 0.1 percentage points from the previous month to settle at 74.3%.

These figures reflect responses from 1,736 businesses participating in the April 2025 Economic Tendency Survey, conducted by the CBRT.

Industrial Activity Softens Slightly

The decline in both seasonally adjusted and unadjusted CUR figures signals a modest slowdown in industrial activity. Capacity Utilization Rate is a key economic indicator that measures the extent to which manufacturers are operating relative to their maximum potential.

While the drop is not steep, it suggests cooling production momentum within Turkey’s manufacturing sector, potentially influenced by both domestic demand fluctuations and global market pressures.
