Video Commentary: The “beautiful” bromance between Donald Trump and Erdogan to be revived

The entire planet has held its collective breath watching US presidential elections. It is more likely than not Donald Trump will best Joe Biden to return to White House. Given his performance in his first term and the campaign promises he is making, not only US allies, but even countries like China and Iran are wary of Trump’s return. Two leaders will benefit from Trump’s potential second term: Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Erdogan and Trump enjoyed a great relationship four years ago (with one exception), which smoothed the kinks in the troublesome Turko-American relationship. This time around, the Trump presidency can deliver concrete benefits to Erdogan. Starting from the never-ending Halkbank Irna sanctions violation case to Syria, Trump can aid Turkey in multiple ways, paving the way for “a new strategic relationship” between erstwhile allies. Of course there is always a fly in the ointment, and it is Ukraine.
