UPDATE (new comments added) Mehmet Simsek:  We met 200 investors so far in the Gulf tour

According to Bloomberg, Turkish Finance Minister Mehmet Simsek says: Concerns about the longevity of new economic policies are
“misplaced” and that the team has “the backing” of President
Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
* “I think we do have what it takes to regain the trust of the
people” and investors will be back, Simsek says on panel at the
Future Investment Initiative in Riyadh
* “The new normal is you implement sound policies that generate
confidence. These will ultimately lead to portfolio and FDI
inflows”
** That will lead to “real exchange-rate appreciation which
would foster speedier disinflation”

Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek, stated regarding his contacts within the scope of the Gulf countries tour,  covering United Arab Emirates (UAE), Qatar and Saudi Arabia, “We explained the investment opportunities in our country to more than 200 investors and representatives of the financial world in the “Turkey: Your Resilient Partner Program”.

Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek shared a post about his visit to the Gulf countries on his social media account.  Simsek’s preferred method of communicating his policy actions is decidedly X, with interviews rarely granted to media. He doesn’t even appear on Turkish TV broadcasts.

Stating that they started the Gulf countries program, which includes the UAE, Qatar and Saudi Arabia, Şimşek added that he and his team first had a productive meeting with the UAE Minister of Investment Muhammed Hasan al-Suveydi in Abu Dhabi.

Şimşek informed his followers that they met with Minister of Finance Ali bin Ahmed al-Kuvari in Qatar, which was his second stop, adding:

“We met with Expo Doha 2023 Secretary General Muhammed Ali al-Khouri and received information about the organization. We visited the Turkey Center, which was located in the fairground and was built in a very short time. It was very impressive. Within the scope of ‘Turkey Investment Century’, our Qatar Embassy and the Presidency Investment Office  initiated, “We explained the investment opportunities in our country to more than 200 investors and representatives of the financial world in the ‘Turkey: Your Resilient Partner’ program. Today, we are attending the ‘Future Investment Initiative’ conference in Riyadh.”
