FM Fidan outlines Turkish foreign policy goals for 2024

In his New Year’s message, Turkey’s Foreign Minister, Hakan Fidan, announced the country’s commitment to maintaining a moral, rational, and effective foreign policy throughout 2024. Fidan underscored the pivotal role Turkey has played on the global stage, shaping the international agenda and exerting influence in critical regions. Under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Turkey has pursued an independent foreign policy that has garnered attention amid the uncertainties and instabilities within the international system.

Fidan acknowledged the completion of the 100th anniversary of the republic and the 500th anniversary of the founding of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He highlighted the strength Turkey derives from its people, emphasizing the nation’s determination to speak out against global injustices and defend the truth. Fidan’s message resonated with the country’s vision, the “Century of Turkey,” which aims to elevate the nation’s standing and impact on the world stage.

“We will further increase the depth and dimensions of our independent national foreign policy,” stated Fidan, outlining Turkey’s ambitions to expand its influence and engagement in the international arena. The foreign minister’s commitment to a foreign policy rooted in moral values comes at a time when global dynamics are marked by uncertainty and shifts in power balances.
