DEVA Istanbul candidate:  Erdogan will sack Imamoglu, if he wins again

DEVA Party Istanbul Mayoral Candidate (Mr) İdris Şahin, who was the guest of Elif Çakır and Yıldıray Oğur in a TV program on KARAR TV, pointed out that the defamation case filed against İmamoğlu before the May 14 elections in 2022 will be brought to the agenda again in the near future. Şahin stated that Erdogan would not allow people who oppose him to rule Istanbul, which is his only love.

Şahin says “I think Erdoğan will spare no  effort to defeat his opponent. If he could not defeat  Imamoglu at the ballot box, he will achieve his goal  through judicial games. “If there is a knife-edge result in the election process, Erdogan will attempt fraud, or Imamoglu’s conviction which carries a mandatory 5 year from elected office will be brought to Turkey’s agenda again after the election,” he said.

Sahin continued:

Erdoğan can make every effort to defeat his opponent, whom he could not defeat at the ballot box, through judicial games. Erdoğan has become so powerful and has dominated all institutions so thoroughly that today we have only the Constitutional Court which oppose him in certain issues. Chief Justice  Arslan’s term of office is ending in April.  The restructuring there (meaning Erdogan’s proposal to amend the constitution to trim the court’s powers)  and the elections to the Supreme Court are on the agenda today. After capturing the  judiciary Istanbul, which is his long-lasting love affair, remains in hostile hands. And I don’t think many people in Istanbul would be happy with a judicial coup to sack Imamoglu…
