Türkiye Election Poll Reveals Significant Lead for Opposition

election

A comprehensive new survey released by GÜNDEMAR Research and Consulting indicates a major shift in the country’s political landscape. Conducted between April 23 and April 26, 2026, the study suggests that the main opposition party has solidified its position as the leading political force. The Türkiye election poll results, utilizing both CATI and CAWI methodologies, come amid intensifying discussions regarding a potential early general election.

CHP Widens Gap as Leading Political Force

According to the findings, after accounting for undecided and protest votes, the Republican People’s Party (CHP) secured the top spot with 36.10% of the vote. In contrast, the ruling AK Party followed with 28.56%, marking a substantial 7.54-point margin between the two rivals. The data highlight a growing trend in Türkiye: the CHP saw a 2.73-point monthly increase, while the AK Party experienced a slight decline.

Other parties also showed notable movements. The DEM Party maintained its third-place position with 8.61%, followed by the MHP at 7.40%. Meanwhile, the İYİ Party and Zafer Party hovered around the 5% threshold, reflecting a fragmenting political center.

Opposition Candidates Dominate Presidential Scenarios

The research further explored potential head-to-head match-ups for a second-round presidential election. In all three simulated scenarios, the prominent opposition figures consistently outperformed President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

The simulation involving Mansur Yavaş yielded the most significant disparity, with Yavaş securing 57.83% against Erdoğan’s 42.17%, a gap of over 15 points. Similarly, Ekrem İmamoğlu maintained a strong lead of 14.70 points. Even in a scenario featuring Özgür Özel, the opposition leader led by approximately 6 points. These Türkiye election poll results suggest that the public’s appetite for change remains high as the nation moves toward the next electoral cycle.
