Turkey Sends 17th ‘Goodness Ship’ with 900 Tons of Aid to Gaza After Ceasefire

Gaza Aid

Turkey continues its humanitarian mission to support Gaza, where life remains fragile despite the ceasefire reached on October 8, 2025. The country has intensified its relief operations under the coordination of the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), preparing the 17th “Goodness Ship” at the Mersin International Port — now loaded and ready to sail.

900 Tons of Vital Supplies Ready to Depart

Carrying 900 tons of essential humanitarian aid, the ship marks another milestone in Turkey’s sustained effort to alleviate the suffering of Gaza’s civilians after months of devastation. Since the beginning of its humanitarian campaign, Turkey has delivered relief through 16 ships and 14 cargo planes, transporting food, medical supplies, tents, hygiene kits, and baby formula to one of the world’s most densely populated and distressed regions.

The 17th vessel set sail at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, following a farewell ceremony attended by Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya. The event symbolized both national solidarity and the enduring commitment of Turkish institutions to stand by civilians affected by the conflict.

Delivered via Egypt’s El Arish Port

The “Goodness Ship” will travel to Egypt’s El Arish Port, where its cargo will be handed over to the Egyptian Red Crescent. From there, aid trucks will carry the supplies across the Karem Abu Salem (Kerem Shalom) border crossing into Gaza, ensuring the materials reach those most in need.

This route — established through Turkish-Egyptian coordination and supported by international humanitarian frameworks — remains the most reliable corridor for delivering assistance to Gaza. Turkish officials emphasize that the latest shipment reflects Ankara’s ongoing humanitarian diplomacy and its intent to ensure uninterrupted aid flows amid the region’s fragile recovery.

A Lifeline for Gaza’s Civilians

The humanitarian supplies include food staples, clean water, medicine, blankets, hygiene products, and children’s essentials — all tailored to the needs identified by on-the-ground aid workers. With Gaza’s infrastructure still in ruins and local hospitals struggling to operate, Turkey’s support serves as a lifeline for hundreds of thousands of displaced people.

An AFAD spokesperson noted that every shipment is coordinated with international aid agencies to maximize impact and transparency. “Each ‘Goodness Ship’ represents not just logistical coordination, but compassion and responsibility,” the statement said.

Humanitarian Commitment Beyond Politics

The operation is part of Turkey’s broader foreign policy of humanitarian solidarity, which prioritizes aid to crisis zones regardless of political alignment. Turkish officials have repeatedly underscored that humanitarian efforts for Gaza are purely people-focused, aimed at addressing immediate needs such as food insecurity, health emergencies, and shelter shortages.

As the 17th ship sets sail, preparations for the 18th mission are already underway, signaling that Ankara intends to sustain its humanitarian bridge as long as the crisis continues.

A Symbol of Solidarity

The “Goodness Ships” have become a symbol of Turkey’s enduring commitment to humanitarian values, reaching Gaza even under difficult logistical and political conditions. Each mission builds upon previous efforts, reflecting not only material support but also a moral stance for international cooperation and compassion.

Officials stress that these aid deliveries are part of a long-term humanitarian strategy, not just short-term relief. “We stand with Gaza today, tomorrow, and for as long as necessary,” Minister Yerlikaya said during the send-off ceremony, reaffirming Turkey’s pledge to help rebuild lives in the aftermath of war.
