Iranian Missiles Hit Israeli Civilian Sites in Retaliation, Tensions Surge

In a dramatic escalation of the Israel-Iran conflict, over 20 Iranian ballistic missiles were launched in retaliation for recent Israeli airstrikes on Iranian military and nuclear sites. According to regional media reports, the missiles struck civilian areas in Tel Aviv, Ramat Gan, and Be’er Sheva, leaving 23 people injured, one critically.
The Israeli Stock Exchange building in Ramat Gan and the Soroka Hospital in Be’er Sheva were directly hit, marking a significant shift in the targeting of civilian infrastructure. The attacks triggered loud explosions across Tel Aviv, Holon, and Negev, and prompted Israel’s Home Front Command to instruct civilians to seek shelter immediately.
Civilian Casualties Mount on Both Sides
Emergency response service Magen David Adom confirmed numerous calls from impacted zones. Search and rescue efforts are ongoing in areas struck by the missiles. So far, 23 injuries have been reported, with one person in critical condition.
The latest missile barrage follows Israel’s June 13 airstrikes targeting Iranian nuclear facilities, military headquarters, and key figures in the Revolutionary Guard. The Iranian government claimed that those attacks resulted in the deaths of nine nuclear scientists and several high-ranking commanders, including the Chief of General Staff. Iran reported 224 civilian deaths from the Israeli strikes.
In response, Iran’s missile retaliation has reportedly killed 24 Israelis and left over 500 injured, according to early estimates.
Global Reactions: Warnings and Condemnations
As regional tensions escalate, Türkiye and multiple international actors have condemned the targeting of civilians and urged both nations to show restraint. Meanwhile, the U.S. Embassy has urged its citizens to leave Iran immediately, citing rising instability.
Iran also submitted a formal complaint to the United Nations, accusing the United States of directly participating in the conflict by aiding Israel militarily.
