CBRT Reserves Drop to Lowest Level in Nearly Two Years

Türkiye’s foreign exchange reserves have fallen to their lowest level since June 2023, following a seven-week streak of consecutive declines, according to data compiled by ForInvest Haber from Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye (CBRT) statistics.

As of the week ending April 25, the CBRT’s FX reserves declined by $5.05 billion, dropping from $64.31 billion to $59.25 billion. This marks a cumulative decline of $38.55 billion over the past seven weeks.

This is the lowest level recorded since the week of June 9, 2023, when FX reserves stood at $57.79 billion.

Gold and Total Reserves Also Decline

  • Gold reserves dropped slightly from $82.25 billion to $81.80 billion.

  • Total gross reserves fell from $146.56 billion to $141.05 billion, reflecting the combined pressure on both FX and gold holdings.

The Central Bank is scheduled to officially release its weekly balance sheet data later today, which is expected to confirm these figures.
