Berkay Gezgin to File Criminal Complaint Against Cem Küçük Over “False Claims”

Berkay Gezgin, member of the Republican People’s Party (CHP) Party Assembly and creator of the iconic slogan “Her Şey Çok Güzel Olacak”, has announced plans to file a criminal complaint against Cem Küçük, a pro-government commentator, over allegations that he received 1 million TL from Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) companies.

The claim, circulated by Cem Küçük, who is known for his alignment with the AKP, suggested that İBB firms transferred funds to Gezgin due to his political involvement.

In a public statement made on Sözcü TV and shared via his X (formerly Twitter) account, Gezgin rejected the claims as “defamatory and baseless,” and stated:

“Due to Cem Küçük’s attempt to mislead the public and his false, defamatory remarks against me, I have launched the necessary legal proceedings and will file a criminal complaint. I respectfully inform the public.”

The incident comes amid heightened political tensions following the arrest of Istanbul Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, with whom Gezgin is publicly affiliated. Gezgin has also played a notable role in the ongoing student protests sparked by İmamoğlu’s arrest and other controversial government measures.
