President Erdoğan Outlines “Terror-Free Türkiye” Roadmap

President erdogan

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan addressed the AKP Group Meeting on April 29, 2026, delivering pivotal messages regarding the ongoing “Terror-Free Türkiye” process, national housing projects, and a sharp critique of the main opposition party (CHP). Highlighting a “positive atmosphere” following the April 23 reception, the President emphasized that the administration is entering a delicate new phase of political consolidation.

The “Terror-Free Türkiye” Process: A Strategic Junction

Erdoğan confirmed that the peace and stability process has reached its 18th month, successfully navigating several critical thresholds. With the approval of a key commission report, the President described the current stage as a “sensitive junction.”

  • Coalition Unity: President Erdoğan called on political parties to support the People’s Alliance (Cumhur İttifakı) in passing this stage “without incident.”

  • Countering Narratives: He dismissed “pessimistic scenarios” and “perceptual manipulations” from groups benefiting from instability, asserting that the process is moving exactly as planned.

  • Core Objectives: The President defined the mission as removing the greatest obstacles to Türkiye’s progress, strengthening the civilian democratic capacity, and ending the “dominance of weapons.”

The “Project of the Century”: 500,000 Homes by 2027

Approaching the 25th anniversary of the AKP, President Erdoğan provided an update on the massive TOKİ social housing initiative.

  • Massive Demand: Of 8 million applicants, 500,000 beneficiaries have been selected through a transparent lottery process across 81 provinces.

  • Delivery Timeline: Construction is set to accelerate immediately, with the President pledging that key deliveries will begin in March 2027.

  • Governance Style: Erdoğan contrasted his “politics of service and construction” with what he termed the “politics of tension” used by opponents.

Historical Narrative: The 110th Anniversary of Kut’ül-Amâre

Commemorating the Kut’ül-Amâre Victory, Erdoğan used the historical milestone to challenge modern political narratives regarding ethnic unity.

  • The “Arab Betrayal” Myth: He debunked claims that Arab populations betrayed the Ottoman Empire, noting that Arab and Kurdish tribes fought—and died—alongside Ottoman forces against British sieges.

  • Regional Alliance: He emphasized that the historical Turkish-Kurdish-Arab alliance remains the blueprint for regional stability today.

Critique of the Opposition and Parliamentary Warnings

The President directed harsh criticism toward the CHP, accusing the party of hypocrisy regarding press freedom and corruption.

  • Press Freedom: He accused the opposition of threatening journalists who expose municipal scandals while simultaneously claiming to defend the free press.

  • Legislative Efficiency: Erdoğan issued a stern warning to his own lawmakers, urging them to attend General Assembly sessions diligently. He stated that the “main opposition’s attempts to clog the legislative process” must not succeed, reminding MPs of their duty to represent all 86 million citizens.
