Public Support for “Terror-Free Turkey” Rises

pkk

According to newly released November 2025 polling from Asal Araştırma, public sentiment toward the “Terörsüz Türkiye” (Terror-Free Turkey) initiative remains broadly positive—and is ticking upward. The study reveals that 55.8% of citizens view the process favorably, compared with 54.6% in September, signaling a modest but notable rise in support.

Nationwide, 34.3% of respondents opposed the initiative, while 9.9% chose not to express an opinion.

At a time when national security, political cooperation, and public trust dominate the national agenda, the survey highlights both an overall leaning toward optimism and deep partisan divides.

Support Ticks Up Since September

Asal’s previous survey in September 2025 found that:

  • 54.6% had a favorable view

  • 33% held an unfavorable opinion

  • 12.4% expressed no view

The November figures indicate a slight increase in support and a mild reduction in undecided voters—suggesting that public perception is stabilizing toward a cautiously optimistic direction.

Political Identity Drives Opinion Gaps

The research shows that attitudes toward the initiative vary sharply by political affiliation. While some parties’ voters show overwhelming approval, others remain sharply skeptical.

Support by party (November 2025):

  • AK Parti: 82.3%

  • DEM Parti: 75%

  • MHP: 61.5%

  • CHP: 27.4%

  • İYİ Parti: 19.4%

These results show that support is highest among AK Parti and DEM Parti voters, while CHP and İYİ Parti electorates maintain significant reservations.

Opposition Clustered Among CHP and İYİ Parti Voters

Those most wary of the initiative are concentrated within two major opposition groups:

  • İYİ Parti: 70.8% negative

  • CHP: 58.7% negative

  • DEM Parti: 20.2% negative

  • MHP: 26.8% negative

  • AK Parti: 10.6% negative

This contrast highlights the sharp polarization surrounding national security initiatives and negotiation-based political processes. While a majority of the population expresses support, the ideological divide remains firmly intact.

Undecided Voters Shrinking

Across political groups, the share of those not expressing an opinion is relatively low, ranging from:

  • AK Parti: 7.1%

  • CHP: 13.9%

  • MHP: 11.7%

  • İYİ Parti: 9.8%

  • DEM Parti: 4.8%

Lower undecided rates indicate that public opinion is solidifying, leaving less room for large swings in the coming months.

Methodology: Wide Geographic Coverage

The poll was conducted across 26 provinces, with 2,015 participants, offering a broad snapshot of attitudes nationwide. The findings underline two simultaneous dynamics:

  1. General public optimism toward a “Terror-Free Turkey” vision

  2. Strong political identity is shaping how the initiative is interpreted

Despite differing voter perspectives, the overall trend suggests that citizens remain cautiously hopeful, even as political divides continue to define how various groups perceive security and peace-related processes.
