Job Openings in Türkiye Drop Nearly 17% in May 2025, Manufacturing Still Leads in Demand

Türkiye’s labor market showed signs of cooling in May 2025, as the number of open job listings reported to the Turkish Employment Agency (İŞKUR) fell by 16.96% year-over-year. According to İŞKUR’s latest Monthly Statistical Report, 238,209 job openings were reported in May, down from 286,845 in the same month of 2024.
Nearly 1 Million Job Listings in Five Months, But in Decline
Between January and May 2025, İŞKUR received 986,856 job postings, reflecting a 13.8% drop compared to the same period last year. Of these, 98.2% came from the private sector, showing continued reliance on private employers for job creation.
The manufacturing sector maintained its lead, accounting for 352,861 job openings—the highest of any industry. The most in-demand occupations were:

Registered Unemployment Down Slightly
The number of registered unemployed individuals also declined. As of May 2025, 2,161,561 people were listed as unemployed by İŞKUR, down 4.89% from 2,272,602 in May 2024.

Job Placements Increase
In May 2025, İŞKUR facilitated the placement of 177,637 individuals into jobs:
