Istanbul’s Consumer Prices Rose 3.21% in April 2025

According to data released by the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO), consumer prices in Istanbul increased by 3.21% month-on-month in April 2025, while the annual change in the Istanbul Consumer Price Index (ITO CPI) reached 47.21% compared to April 2024.
The ITO’s index, based on the 2023=100 base year, is seen as a key early indicator of retail inflation in Türkiye’s largest city.
Clothing and Housing Lead Monthly Price Surges
The highest monthly price increase was recorded in the Clothing and Footwear group, which rose by 13.59%, primarily driven by seasonal factors.
Other major monthly increases included:

Restaurants and Hotels: +3.15%,

Miscellaneous Goods and Services: +3.12%,

Recreation and Culture: +2.03%,

Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages: +1.57% (mainly due to seasonal variation).
There was no price change observed in the Education category.
Wholesale Prices Also Rise, But at a Slower Pace
The Wholesale Price Index, which tracks broader supply-side price movements, rose by 1.46% in April 2025, following a 2.30% increase in March. On a year-on-year basis, wholesale prices were up 28.85%, while the 12-month average increase stood at 43.11%.
