Apple Unleashes M5 MacBooks and iPads: Prices Soar Up in Turkey

Apple

Apple has officially unveiled its new M5 chip-powered MacBook Pro and iPad Pro models, marking the company’s biggest hardware leap of 2025 — and an equally dramatic price hike for the entire Mac and iPad lineup in Türkiye. Following the announcement, Apple increased prices across its catalog by ₺5,000 to ₺15,000, pushing premium devices further out of reach for many Turkish consumers.

M5 MacBook Pro: More Power, Longer Battery — and a Bigger Bill

The new M5 MacBook Pro boasts a 3.5× boost in AI processing performance and a 1.6× improvement in graphics power compared to the previous generation. Designed for creators, developers, and AI professionals, the laptop also delivers up to 24 hours of battery life — the longest ever in a MacBook.

However, that power comes at a price: the base model now starts at ₺94,999, up from ₺79,999. The M4 MacBook Air also saw a major jump, rising from ₺49,999 to ₺57,999. Apple’s latest pricing now places:

  • MacBook Pro: ₺94,999 starting price

  • iMac: ₺72,999

  • Mac mini: ₺36,999

  • Mac Studio: ₺118,999

Analysts say the update reflects both global component cost inflation and Apple’s positioning of M5 chips as AI-ready workstations, effectively turning MacBooks into edge-computing machines for professional workloads.

M5 iPad Pro: Ultra-Powerful, Ultra-Expensive

The new M5 iPad Pro arrives as Apple’s most advanced tablet ever, integrating Wi-Fi 7, next-generation cellular connectivity, and a neural engine designed for on-device generative AI. The lineup includes:

  • 11-inch iPad Pro: ₺59,999

  • 13-inch iPad Pro: ₺74,999

Other models also received notable hikes:

  • iPad Air: ₺34,999

  • iPad mini: ₺29,999

  • Standard iPad: ₺19,999

Market watchers note that Apple’s pricing strategy reflects its global AI hardware shift, positioning iPads as professional creative tools rather than consumer devices.

Türkiye: Among the Most Expensive Apple Markets

With this update, Türkiye remains one of the most expensive countries in the world to buy Apple products. Currency depreciation, high import taxes, and Apple’s global pricing parity strategy continue to push retail prices far beyond the U.S. and EU averages.

For comparison, the same M5 MacBook Pro starts at roughly $2,499 (≈₺87,000) in the U.S., while its Turkish equivalent exceeds ₺94,999, even before optional upgrades.

The Bigger Picture: AI Everywhere

Apple’s M5 lineup underscores the company’s new era of “AI-native devices,” designed to handle advanced tasks — from video editing and 3D rendering to real-time generative AI. The company says the M5 chip will “redefine how users experience intelligence on-device”, emphasizing privacy, performance, and battery efficiency as key pillars.

Despite the excitement, Turkish consumers face a familiar dilemma: cutting-edge innovation at a premium cost.
