Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç: “We Will Achieve a Terror-Free Türkiye on the Foundation of Justice”
Yılmaz Tunç
Marking the start of the 2025–2026 judicial year, Türkiye’s Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç emphasized the government’s vision for the “Century of Türkiye”, stressing the role of justice in securing a terror-free future for the country.
In a message shared on his social media account, Tunç underscored the principles of rule of law, judicial independence, and impartiality, adding that the government would not tolerate attacks against members of the judiciary.
“Justice is the foundation of the state, the guarantee of social peace and security, and indispensable for protecting individual rights. The rule of law is the common conscience of the nation. A strong state of law is only possible with an independent and impartial judiciary.”
Strengthening the Justice System
Tunç reiterated the government’s commitment to improving the quality and efficiency of justice services:
-
Enhancing physical and technological infrastructure
-
Expanding human resources in the judiciary
-
Advancing legislative reforms
-
Ensuring timely, predictable, and effective legal processes
“With a vision of a justice system based on the rule of law, without delays, and with predictability, we will continue to strengthen justice services as we have until today. We remain committed to human rights and the universal principles of law.”
Protecting the Judiciary and Democracy
Tunç firmly rejected efforts to undermine or target judicial members:
“We will never allow our judiciary, which makes decisions on behalf of the nation, to be targeted with slander, lies, and disinformation. Under the visionary and strong leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, we will successfully achieve a terror-free Türkiye on the foundation of justice.”
He further emphasized that the judiciary’s independence is crucial for safeguarding democracy, reinforcing the rule of law, and expanding fundamental rights and freedoms.
“We will never give a chance to the tutelary mindset and its extensions, just as we resisted during the treacherous coup attempt of July 15.”
Commitment to the “Century of Justice”
As part of the “Century of Türkiye” goals, Tunç stated that every step would be guided by justice, promising a stronger, more secure, and fairer society for future generations.
“In the Century of Justice, we will take every step under the guidance of justice and illuminate our efforts with the light of justice. We will leave a safer and more peaceful country to our future generations.”
He also paid tribute to judges, prosecutors, lawyers, and judicial staff who lost their lives in the line of duty or during the February 6 earthquakes, and extended gratitude to those serving across the nation.
