CHP Leader Özgür Özel Praises KAAN Fighter Jet Program During TUSAŞ Visit

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel paid a visit to Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAŞ) to inspect progress on the national fighter jet project KAAN and ongoing domestically produced engine development efforts. Following the visit, Özel praised the employees’ determination and described TUSAŞ as “the pride of Turkey.”
“We Witnessed the Drive to Make KAAN Fly with a Local Engine”
Spending over two hours at TUSAŞ, Özel received a detailed briefing on the KAAN national fighter jet, including its current status and future goals. He acknowledged the hard work and innovation of Turkish engineers, particularly in efforts to build indigenous engines.
“We saw the determination here to witness the day KAAN flies with its own engine,” Özel said, adding, “We thank everyone contributing to this effort.”
Strategic Outlook for CHP’s Vision
Özel emphasized the strategic value of the visit, stating that it was educational for the CHP leadership as they prepare for potential governance. He outlined the party’s commitment to supporting fully indigenous defense technologies, including fighter jets, helicopters, and UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles).
“This visit was extremely informative for our roadmap,” he said. “It gave us perspective on how we view TUSAŞ, our aircraft, and defense industry as part of a national vision.”
KAAN Fighter Jet Nears Third Flight
CHP’s leader concluded his statement by expressing pride in Turkey’s aerospace advancements. Noting that KAAN is preparing for its third flight, he commended the collective achievement:
“After 2 hours and 15 minutes that made us proud, we leave this place inspired. We hope even greater achievements lie ahead. We remember those who contributed and are no longer with us with respect and gratitude.”
