Türkiye Accelerates High-Tech Investments to Become a Global Innovation Hub

Türkiye is positioning itself as a global center for high-tech investments, with major advancements expected in biotechnology, industrial robotics, and next-generation manufacturing.

In an exclusive interview with Anadolu Agency, Industry and Technology Minister Mehmet Fatih Kacır hailed 2024 as a breakthrough year for the country’s industrial and technological evolution. Key milestones include Türkiye’s first crewed space mission and the launch of its first indigenous communications satellite, Türksat 6A.

Aiming for a High-Tech Future

Minister Kacır highlighted Türkiye’s impressive industrial growth, stating that the country has led the OECD in industrial production growth over the last 22 years while attracting nearly $7 billion in foreign investment.

To further accelerate technological progress, the government is preparing an investment package exceeding $2 billion, with the first phase launching next month. This initiative aims to boost Türkiye’s high-tech production and exports in 2025.

“We are raising the stakes with higher value-added products and strategic investments,” Kacır stated, emphasizing that EV technologies, battery production, solar cells, wind turbines, semiconductors, industrial robotics, and hyperscale data centers will be priority areas for rapid investment.

Global Tech Giants Eyeing Türkiye

Türkiye’s growing high-tech ecosystem has caught the attention of global tech and automotive giants. Chinese EV manufacturer BYD is set to invest in next-generation EV production, with operations expected to start by 2026.

“We are in advanced discussions with several global companies, including Chery, to ensure these investments generate R&D and innovation-based value within Türkiye,” Kacır explained.

Meanwhile, Türkiye’s own EV brand, Togg, has solidified its leadership in the domestic market. A new fastback model is set to launch this year, reinforcing the brand’s competitive position in EV, battery, and autonomous vehicle technologies.

“Togg is more than a car—it is a tech-driven mobility platform,” Kacır noted, revealing that over 50,000 Togg vehicles hit the roads in 2023 alone.

Advancing Space and Satellite Technology

Türkiye is also making strides in satellite and space technology, aiming to compete globally in Earth observation, imaging, and communication satellites.

“Türkiye is emerging as a leading satellite manufacturer, leveraging cutting-edge advancements in both the public and private sectors,” Kacır affirmed.

Additionally, the country’s lunar program remains a priority, with Türkiye aiming to land on the moon using a fully domestic spacecraft in the near future.

Türkiye’s Tech Vision for 2025 and Beyond

With strategic investments, a thriving R&D environment, and strong global partnerships, Türkiye is charting a path to become a major player in next-generation technology, sustainable mobility, and space exploration.

By combining innovation-driven growth with government-backed incentives, Türkiye is not just keeping pace with the global tech race—it is positioning itself as a leader in the high-tech economy of the future.
