Bloomberg HT Consumer Confidence Index fell 10.1 percent in May

Bloomberg HT Consumer Confidence Index fell 10.10 percent in May compared to the previous month to 49.06

Looking at the details of the index, declines were observed at the consumer’s perception of the current situation, expectations for the future and consumption tendency.

While the fluctuation in the financial markets after the Fed meeting and the pressure on TL and deeply negative real rates in Turkey in particular caused the decline in Consumer Confidence, the continuation of the rise of inflation was another reason for the decline. In this context, the Bloomberg HT Consumer Expectation Index decreased by 15.18 percent compared to the previous month and took the value of 58.54.

On the other hand, the Bloomberg HT Consumption Trend Index, which tries to measure the suitability of the current period for the purchase of durable consumer goods, automobiles and housing, decreased by 9.45 percent to 36.91.
