World Peace Council: Bahçeli Issues Urgent Call

The World Peace Council must be established immediately to prevent the escalation of regional conflicts into a global catastrophe, according to MHP Leader Devlet Bahçeli. Speaking at his party’s parliamentary group meeting, Bahçeli provided a rigorous assessment of international security, domestic stability, and the strategic importance of agricultural independence in an era defined by “asymmetric warfare.”
Middle East Crisis: A Strategic Pause, Not Permanent Peace
Analyzing the recent developments in the Middle East, Bahçeli characterized the ceasefire between the US-Israel axis and Iran as a “temporary pause” rather than a comprehensive resolution. He noted that the April 7 ceasefire marks a moment for the parties to recalibrate their positions after failing to meet their initial strategic objectives.
“The ceasefire is a breathing space for those who could not reach their targets on the field,” Bahçeli remarked, adding that the failed Islamabad negotiations on April 12 signal that the crisis has merely changed form. He warned that if the international community remains a spectator, the sparks in the Middle East could ignite a “Third World War” that reaches the heart of Europe and Asia.
National Security: Strengthening the Domestic Front and Agriculture
Bahçeli linked foreign policy challenges directly to domestic stability, emphasizing the “Terror-Free Türkiye” initiative. He argued that breaking external sieges is only possible by maintaining a rock-solid “inner front.” This domestic strength, according to Bahçeli, is inseparable from resource sovereignty.
“Food security is a matter of national sovereignty and survival,” Bahçeli stated, elevating agriculture to a primary defense concern. He highlighted that future conflicts will be fought over water, food, and energy. By proposing the creation of “Agricultural Cities,” Bahçeli envisions a Türkiye where rural production serves as the backbone of national defense. “Today, whoever produces the seed is the victor of the war,” he concluded, reinforcing the idea that farmers and soldiers are two sides of the same sovereign coin.
No Early Elections: Respecting the National Will
Addressing domestic political maneuvers, Bahçeli firmly rejected calls for early elections. He emphasized that the electoral calendar remains fixed and that the “will of the Turkish nation” must be respected. He advised the opposition against attempts to destabilize the country for political gain, asserting that stability is paramount during this volatile global period.
