The FCDO highlighted Turkey’s direct land border with Iran as a focal point for security concerns. British citizens attempting to cross from Iran into Turkey are advised to contact the British Embassy in Ankara before heading to the border. The UK government cautioned that any attempt to leave Iran by land is done at the traveler’s “own risk.”

Furthermore, the existing strict advisory against traveling within 10 kilometers of the Syrian border remains in place due to ongoing conflict and heightened terrorism risks. Brits currently in Turkey are urged to:
