Turkey Issues Urgent ‘Stay Indoors’ Alert for Citizens in Iran

As the military tensions between the USA, Israel, and Iran escalate into a broader regional conflict involving missile exchanges in the Gulf, Ankara has issued its first official safety mandate. The Turkish Embassy in Tehran released an emergency communiqué, urging all Turkish nationals within Iranian borders to exercise extreme caution and prioritize immediate repatriation via land routes.
Strategic Safety: “Avoid Military Zones and Public Spaces”
The diplomatic mission characterized the current security climate in Iran as being in a “highly sensitive” phase. To ensure the physical safety of its citizens, the Embassy issued specific behavioral directives to mitigate risks from potential airstrikes or collateral damage.
“In light of recent developments, the security situation in Iran remains sensitive. Accordingly, our citizens in Iran are advised to remain in secure areas, stay away from military zones and strategic buildings, and refrain from going outdoors,” the official statement confirmed.
Furthermore, the government has advised against all non-essential travel to the region and requested that planned trips be postponed until further notice.
Airspace Closures: Land Routes Remain the Primary Escape Path
Following the suspension of flights by Turkish Airlines (THY) and other major carriers due to closed airspaces across the Middle East, the Embassy highlighted the viability of terrestrial evacuation. While the skies remain restricted, the Turkey-Iran border gates are currently functioning to facilitate the safe return of individuals.
The Embassy underscored this alternative by stating: “Turkey-Iran border gates are open, and it is possible for our citizens to reach our country by road.” This directive serves as a critical lifeline for those stranded by the halt in aviation services, signaling that the Gürbulak, Kapıköy, and Esendere crossings remain the primary corridors for those seeking exit from the conflict zone.
