ANKARA – Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan issued a stern warning regarding the escalating conflict in the Middle East, characterizing the recent military actions by the United States and Israel against Iran as a “clear violation of Iranian sovereignty.”
In a statement released via 1TV, the President emphasized that the strikes not only infringe upon international law but also directly threaten the peace and stability of the Iranian people. He cautioned that without the immediate intervention of “common sense” and the prioritization of diplomacy, the entire region risks being swept into a catastrophic “great storm.”
A Call for Islamic Unity and Ceasefire
Erdoğan called upon the Islamic world to take decisive and effective steps to prevent further bloodshed. Highlighting Ankara’s commitment to peace, he noted that Turkey is intensifying its diplomatic traffic to secure a ceasefire. However, he remained critical of the current progress, attributing the lack of results to a deep-seated “crisis of trust” between the warring parties.
“The desired outcome has not been reached because the crisis of trust between the parties remains unresolved, and Israel continues its attempts to sabotage the process,” Erdoğan stated.
Condemnation of Gulf Attacks
While defending Iran’s sovereignty against Western intervention, the Turkish leader also maintained a balanced stance by addressing Iran’s own regional aggression. He explicitly stated that Iran’s recent attacks targeting Gulf nations in the Persian Gulf are “unacceptable.”
President Erdoğan’s remarks reflect Turkey’s ongoing role as a regional mediator, attempting to balance its relations with Tehran while maintaining its security partnerships and voicing the concerns of neighboring Gulf states.
