CHP Chairman Özgür Özel strongly condemned the United States and Israel over their military action against Iran, calling foreign intervention “bloody-handed” and arguing that Iran’s political future should be determined by its own people.

The leader of Türkiye’s main opposition, Özgür Özel, sharply criticized the United States and Israel over their recent strikes on Iran, saying no foreign power has the right to intervene militarily in the country’s internal affairs.

Speaking at a public rally, Özel said that while Iran’s government may face domestic criticism, any political change must come from the Iranian people themselves.

“Neither Trump nor the bloody-handed Netanyahu is responsible for saving Iran or its people,” Özel said, referring to US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Özel described military intervention in Iran as unacceptable and warned that such actions risk plunging the region into deeper instability.

He emphasized that sovereignty and the will of the people must be respected, stating that external force cannot be justified under the pretext of promoting democracy or protecting civilians.

While reiterating that the CHP does not endorse Iran’s internal policies, including issues related to freedoms and women’s rights, Özel said these matters must be resolved internally.

“Iran’s problems belong to the Iranian people,” he said. “No outside power has the authority to interfere with bombs and missiles.”

Özel also called for restraint and diplomacy, warning that escalating conflict in the Middle East would have dangerous consequences for regional peace.

The speech marked one of the strongest reactions from the Republican People’s Party regarding the latest developments between the US, Israel and Iran.
