Khamenei Denies Iran Role in Turkey, Oman Attacks, Calls Them “False Flag” Operations

Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei denied any Iranian involvement in recent attacks targeting Türkiye and Oman, describing the incidents as “false flag” operations orchestrated by Israel to sow division in the region. Speaking ahead of the Persian New Year and Eid al-Fitr, Khamenei emphasized Iran’s commitment to regional relations while warning of broader geopolitical attempts to destabilize neighboring countries.
Iran Rejects Responsibility for Attacks
Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei firmly denied that Iran or allied groups were behind recent attacks targeting Türkiye and Oman.
“These attacks were absolutely not carried out by Iran’s armed forces or elements of the resistance front,” Khamenei said, stressing that both countries maintain positive relations with Tehran.
He described the incidents as part of a deliberate attempt to damage trust between Iran and its regional partners.
Blames Israel for “False Flag” Strategy
Khamenei accused Israel of orchestrating the attacks as a “false flag” operation designed to create friction between Iran and its neighbors.
“This is a scheme by the Zionist enemy to create division between Iran and countries with which we have good relations,” he said, adding that similar operations could be carried out in other countries.
The remarks come amid heightened tensions across the Middle East, particularly following escalating conflict involving Iran, Israel, and U.S. forces.
Emphasis on Regional Relations
Khamenei underlined Iran’s intention to maintain strong ties with regional actors, including Türkiye and Oman, as well as other neighboring countries.
He framed the alleged attacks as part of a broader geopolitical effort to undermine regional unity and cooperation.
Iran, he said, remains committed to engagement based on shared political, cultural, and religious interests.
Address Delivered During New Year Message
The comments were made as part of a broader خطاب marking the upcoming Iranian year 1405, alongside Eid al-Fitr greetings to Muslims worldwide.
Khamenei used the occasion to combine religious messaging with political and strategic themes, focusing on national unity, regional diplomacy, and resistance to external pressure.
Claims of Military Success and National Unity
Khamenei also pointed to what he described as recent “victories” by Iran’s armed forces in ongoing conflicts, referring to a “third imposed war.”
He argued that attempts by Iran’s adversaries to destabilize the country had failed, instead strengthening internal cohesion.
“Enemies sought to spread fear and despair, but national unity has turned these efforts into failure,” he said.
Economic Challenges and “Resistance Economy”
On the economic front, Khamenei acknowledged ongoing structural challenges and called for reforms aimed at improving living standards.
He announced the theme for the new year as a “resistance economy,” emphasizing:
- Strengthening domestic production
- Addressing management inefficiencies
- Improving welfare systems
He framed economic policy as part of a broader “economic war,” requiring resilience and national solidarity.
Warning to Domestic Media
Khamenei also cautioned domestic media against amplifying internal weaknesses, arguing that such narratives could be exploited by foreign adversaries.
According to him, information warfare is a key component of external pressure on Iran.
Regional Outlook
Looking ahead, Khamenei stressed the importance of stronger ties among Muslim-majority countries, including Pakistan and Afghanistan, alongside Türkiye and Oman.
He reiterated Iran’s commitment to regional cooperation while warning that external actors would continue attempts to destabilize the region through indirect means.
