Türkiye’s Registered Unemployment Rises to 2.23 Million in July

Data from the Turkish Employment Agency (İŞKUR) shows that the number of registered unemployed rose from 2,185,273 in June to 2,229,341 in July 2025, marking an increase of 44,000 people. Despite the monthly rise, the annual figure reflected a 5.8% decrease in total unemployment.

The July 2025 Labour Market Statistics Bulletin, published by İŞKUR’s Directorate of Labour Market and Statistics, reported increases in both open job postings and registered job seekers.

Demographics of Unemployment
Of the unemployed in July, 48.4% were men and 51.6% were women. Young people aged 15–24 accounted for 21.8% of the total. While there was a 44,000 monthly increase, annual data showed a 7% drop in female unemployment and a 4.6% decline in male unemployment.

Employment Through İŞKUR
In July alone, 145,546 people found jobs via İŞKUR. Men made up 61.1% (88,937) of placements, while 38.9% (56,609) were women. Between January and July 2025, a total of 903,987 individuals were placed into jobs, including 343,256 women, 303,975 young people, 29,760 people with disabilities, and 175,477 university graduates.

Surge in Job Postings
During July, İŞKUR received 221,750 open job listings from employers. In the first seven months of the year, the agency recorded 1,418,493 job postings, 98.4% of which were from the private sector. The manufacturing industry led with 494,801 vacancies, while the most sought-after roles included tourism and hotel staff, unarmed security guards, and service personnel.
