Türkiye’s Meat and Milk Board Raises Ground Beef Prices

The Meat and Milk Board of Türkiye (Et ve Süt Kurumu – ESK) has increased the price of ground beef sold at its retail stores and through partnered supermarket chains. Although no official explanation has yet been issued by the institution, market observers suggest that rising production costs and supply-demand imbalances are driving the decision.
Prices Rise at ESK and Partner Markets
The price of ground beef at ESK’s own outlets has been raised from 320 Turkish Lira to 335 TL per kilogram.
Meanwhile, in PERDER-affiliated supermarkets—private chains that collaborate with ESK to offer discounted meat to consumers—the same product has seen a hike from 410 TL to 430 TL per kilogram.
These markets are part of ESK’s broader initiative to stabilize red meat prices and ensure more affordable access to protein for the general public.
No Official Statement Yet
As of now, ESK has not issued a formal statement regarding the price hike. However, the move comes amid a period of increasing inflation in food prices and broader macroeconomic pressures affecting agriculture and livestock sectors in Türkiye.
According to a report by HalkTV, analysts believe that rising input costs, supply shortages, and adjustments to market dynamics are behind the decision.
