KAAN Jets

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has announced a historic milestone in Türkiye’s defense industry: the country’s first national combat aircraft, KAAN, will be exported to Indonesia under a newly signed agreement.

In a statement shared on social media, President Erdoğan confirmed that 48 KAAN fighter jets will be manufactured in Türkiye and delivered to Indonesia as part of a major defense export deal between the two countries.

“This agreement will also benefit from Indonesia’s local technological capabilities during the production process,” Erdoğan noted, emphasizing that the deal reflects the advanced capabilities of Türkiye’s defense sector and its growing presence in the global arms market.

Erdoğan expressed his gratitude to Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto for his leadership and partnership in making the agreement possible, stating:

“I hope this deal will be beneficial for both countries. I congratulate our Defense Industry Agency, TUSAŞ, and all contributors who made this achievement possible.”

The deal marks Türkiye’s largest known export order for the KAAN fifth-generation stealth fighter, which is currently being developed by Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAŞ). The agreement is expected to enhance bilateral relations and open new opportunities for joint technological development and industrial collaboration.

KAAN: A Symbol of Türkiye’s Defense Innovation

KAAN represents Türkiye’s bold ambitions to join the elite group of nations capable of producing fifth-generation fighter jets. The aircraft features stealth technology, advanced avionics, and superior air combat capabilities, positioning Türkiye as a rising power in aerospace manufacturing.

The export of KAAN to Indonesia not only bolsters Ankara’s defense diplomacy but also signifies its transformation from a defense importer to a prominent global defense exporter.
