Türkiye Slams Israeli Strikes on Iran as Illegal, Destabilizing

The Turkish Foreign Ministry has issued a firm condemnation of Israel’s recent military strikes on Iran, labeling them a violation of international law and a dangerous provocation that could trigger broader regional instability and undermine global peace efforts.
“We strongly condemn Israel’s attacks against Iran, which violate international law,” the ministry stated Friday, calling the strikes “a provocation that serves Israel’s policy of strategic destabilization in the region.”
Türkiye Accuses Israel of Undermining Diplomacy
Ankara expressed deep concern over the timing of the operation, suggesting that Israel’s leadership is deliberately sidelining diplomatic solutions in favor of escalating tensions.
“The timing of the attacks shows that the Netanyahu government is unwilling to resolve any issue through diplomacy and is willing to risk regional stability and global peace for its interests,” the statement added.
The ministry urged Israel to immediately halt all military operations, warning that continued aggression could spark further escalation and bloodshed.
“We reiterate that we don’t want to see more bloodshed and destruction in the Middle East,” it said, while also calling on the international community to act swiftly to prevent a wider conflict.
“We call on the international community to take urgent action to prevent the spread of war.”
Vice President Yilmaz: Israel’s Actions “Unlawful and Provocative”
Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz echoed the ministry’s position in a statement posted to his X (formerly Twitter) account, strongly condemning what he described as Israel’s unlawful and provocative aggression.
“By attacking Iran, Israel has added yet another unlawful and provocative act to its record. We strongly condemn the Netanyahu administration’s aggression, which lacks any legitimate justification,” Yilmaz wrote.
He noted that the attacks come at a sensitive diplomatic juncture, amid both mounting international criticism of Israel’s war in Gaza and ongoing nuclear negotiations with Iran.
“This attack reflects a barbaric stance that disregards humanitarian values and diplomacy,” Yilmaz added, extending condolences to Iran for the lives lost.
He concluded by calling for a stronger international response:
“All international institutions and relevant countries must adopt a much stronger position against Israel’s actions that threaten humanitarian values, international law, and regional stability.”
