Türkiye Denies Sending Weapons to Pakistan

Türkiye’s Directorate of Communications has officially denied allegations that the country sent six cargo planes loaded with weapons to Pakistan. In a statement released on Monday, the Presidency’s disinformation response center clarified that no arms shipment took place, and that the reports circulating on social media platforms do not reflect the truth.
According to the announcement, the aircraft in question made a brief landing in Pakistan solely for refueling purposes before continuing its scheduled route. “Speculative news not based on official sources should not be trusted,” the directorate emphasized.
Social Media Rumors Trigger Official Clarification
The statement came in response to widespread online claims and images showing a Turkish cargo plane in Pakistan, which led to allegations that Türkiye was supplying military aid. The refueling stop, however, was misrepresented, prompting the government to intervene and combat disinformation.
The Communications Directorate reiterated the importance of relying only on authorized statements and cautioned against misleading narratives shared by unofficial outlets.
Regional Tensions Heighten Scrutiny
These developments unfold against the backdrop of heightened tensions in South Asia, particularly after a deadly terrorist attack in the Pahalgam region of Jammu and Kashmir, which Türkiye condemned last week. The attack resulted in multiple civilian casualties and injuries, drawing international concern.
The region of Jammu and Kashmir, home to a Muslim-majority population, has long been a flashpoint in the India–Pakistan conflict. Ongoing disputes and deteriorating diplomatic relations between the two nuclear-armed neighbors have prompted renewed warnings from analysts about the potential for military escalation.
While Türkiye continues to express concern over regional violence and remains active in humanitarian diplomacy, the government reaffirmed that it has not engaged in any military shipment to Pakistan, contrary to the online rumors.
