Turkish Stocks Rally at Open, Led by Banking Sector

borsa istanbul

The Borsa Istanbul BIST 100 index opened Thursday’s session with a strong gain, rising 3.27% to 9,579.11 points, marking a 303.61-point increase from the previous day’s close.

The banking sector led the rally with a 4.25% surge, while the holding index rose 2.57%. All sector indices recorded gains in early trading, reflecting a broad-based market rebound.

Rebound Follows Previous Day's Decline

The surge came after a volatile session the day before, when the BIST 100 index fell 2.13%, closing at 9,275.50 points due to heavy selling pressure.

Trump’s Tariff Pause Boosts Global Sentiment

The positive momentum in global markets also played a role in lifting Turkish stocks. U.S. President Donald Trump’s announcement that additional tariffs on trade partners (excluding China) would be paused for 90 days helped ease market jitters and stimulate risk appetite across global equities.
