Summary:
Turkey’s Consumer Confidence Index (CCI), jointly calculated by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) and the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT), rose 0.9% month-on-month to 84.3 in August 2025, up from 83.5 in July. While the index remains below the neutral threshold of 100, the modest improvement signals slightly stronger household sentiment toward personal finances and economic conditions.
Consumer Confidence Index Shows Modest Improvement
According to the latest data published by TurkStat, Turkey’s seasonally adjusted Consumer Confidence Index rose to 84.3 in August 2025, compared to 83.5 in July.
The CCI is compiled from the Consumer Tendency Survey, which measures household perceptions of their current financial situation, expectations for the general economy, and willingness to make major purchases over the next 12 months.

Index Interpretation
The Consumer Confidence Index is measured on a 0 to 200 scale:
-
Above 100 → Signals optimism among consumers
-
Below 100 → Reflects a pessimistic outlook
With the index still at 84.3, Turkish consumers remain cautious, but the modest increase suggests that household expectations are stabilizing amid improving inflation forecasts and easing external uncertainties.
Outlook: Confidence Recovery Remains Fragile
Economists note that despite the slight recovery, the index remains well below the neutral threshold, pointing to fragile consumer sentiment.
Looking ahead, continued improvements in inflation expectations, real sector stability, and domestic demand will be key to driving a sustained recovery in consumer confidence throughout 2026.
