Trump Cuts Ties with Netanyahu, Plans Middle East Moves Without Israel’s Input

Donald Trump has reportedly decided to cut ties with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu amid growing tensions over Middle East strategy, according to Israeli Army Radio.
The report claims that Trump’s close allies informed Israeli Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer that Trump will no longer coordinate his regional initiatives with Netanyahu. Sources say Trump believes Netanyahu has attempted to manipulate him — something the former president is known to strongly resent.
An Israeli official cited by the station noted that Dermer’s typically assertive approach during discussions with senior Republican figures failed to ease the situation.
This follows a separate report by Israel Hayom, which stated that Trump is “disappointed” in Netanyahu and plans to advance key diplomatic moves in the Middle East without waiting for Israeli input.
Since taking office again on January 20, 2025, Trump has extended sweeping, unconditional support to Netanyahu’s government — even amid international criticism of Israel’s military actions in Gaza, widely condemned as genocidal since the conflict erupted on October 7, 2023.
Despite this alignment in policy, sources cited by Israel Hayom describe a cooling of personal ties between the two leaders. Two senior figures close to Trump reportedly said that the former president no longer intends to wait for Israel’s approval and will move forward independently.
While specific details about Trump’s upcoming actions remain unclear, Israeli officials reportedly express growing concern over U.S. decisions being made without Tel Aviv’s involvement. One key example is the recent ceasefire deal with Yemen’s Houthi group, brokered by Washington without informing Israel in advance.
This latest rift underscores a deeper strategic shift and raises questions about the future of U.S.-Israel coordination under Trump’s renewed leadership.
