Şimşek Highlights Expanding Türkiye–U.S. Cooperation Across Technology, Investment, and Regional Security

Turkish Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek stated that Türkiye is fully committed to strengthening its strategic partnership with the United States across a wide range of sectors, including trade, investment, defense, space, energy, artificial intelligence, and robotics.

Quoting a social media post from U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent on X, Şimşek thanked his American counterpart for a productive meeting and underlined the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and U.S. President Donald Trump in expanding bilateral cooperation.

“Under the leadership of President Erdoğan and President Trump, Türkiye is determined to deepen and broaden its strategic partnership with the U.S. in all fields,” Şimşek said.

A Vision for Growth, Innovation, and Regional Stability

Minister Şimşek emphasized that Türkiye and the U.S. have tremendous untapped potential for mutual cooperation. He highlighted joint efforts to stimulate economic growth, drive technological innovation, and invest in regional peace and security.

“We look forward to building on this momentum,” Şimşek added, pointing to shared interests in forward-looking sectors.

U.S. Affirms Cooperation on Middle East, Ukraine, and Iran

In his own remarks, Secretary Bessent said he was pleased to have “wide-ranging and in-depth discussions” with Şimşek on expanding Türkiye–U.S. economic ties and aligning on Trump’s Middle East priorities and shared strategies regarding Ukraine and Russia.

Bessent also reaffirmed the Trump administration’s commitment to its maximum pressure campaign against Iran, signaling continuity in Washington’s regional approach.

“We discussed how our countries can work more closely on strategic priorities,” Bessent noted.
