Controversial media figure Rasim Ozan Kütahyalı has been detained in Bolu following an investigation launched by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office over claims he deliberately spread misleading information to the public. The investigation stems from his public assertion that Turkey’s main opposition party, CHP, would have its 38th General Congress annulled and be placed under temporary trustee (kayyum) control.

According to officials, Kütahyalı was apprehended by Istanbul-based police teams on April 19 in Bolu, as part of a jurisdictional request (istinabe) issued by Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office.

Kütahyalı is currently being processed at Bolu Courthouse, where he is expected to give his statement via SEGBİS, Turkey’s Audio and Visual Information System, remotely to the Ankara Prosecutor’s Office.

In a related move, CHP Party Council Member Berkay Gezgin, widely recognized as the originator of the slogan “Everything will be beautiful”, recently filed a criminal complaint against pro-government columnist Cem Küçük for spreading false claims about alleged financial transfers from municipal affiliates. The accusations, including alleged misuse of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) funds, have been strongly denied.
