President Erdoğan: “Terror Cost Turkey $2 Trillion”

rte2

Speaking at the TOBB Honorary Service Certificate and Plaque Ceremony held at the Twin Towers of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB), President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan emphasized Turkey’s sovereign stance and national unity.

The Republic of Turkey is a great and powerful state. Our state has never bowed before any power — and it never will,” Erdoğan said in a strongly worded speech.

“We have reached a point where this issue is now under control. The territorial integrity of our state, the unity and solidarity of our nation, our unitary structure, our flag, and our official language are non-negotiable,” he added.

“We Achieved Economic Success Together”

Highlighting Turkey’s economic transformation over the past two decades, Erdoğan addressed the business community directly:

“You know best where the Turkish economy came from and where it stands now. In this 23-year journey, we have always acted in solidarity. Together, we have written Turkey’s economic success story, especially in exports.”

He noted that Turkey increased its exports from $32 billion to $264 billion, expanding the reach of Turkish entrepreneurs and investors into global markets.

“Whatever we achieved in the past 23 years, we achieved together,” he underlined.

“TOGG Now a Market Leader in Turkey”

Erdoğan praised the Turkish business community’s role in bringing TOGG, Turkey’s domestic electric car, to life:

“You answered my call and made TOGG a reality. To those who said ‘Turkey can’t manufacture a car,’ and those who sneered, ‘Where’s the factory?’ — we gave the best answer with tens of thousands of TOGGs now on the road.”

He confirmed that TOGG now holds a 30% domestic market share, and with the newly launched sedan model, international exports are set to begin next year.

“Soon, we will see our national brand driving alongside global car giants on roads in other countries,” he added.

“Turkey Now Among the Top Three in Drone Technology”

On defense innovation, Erdoğan noted Turkey’s global rise in unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) technology:

“We are now among the top three globally in drone technology. Just yesterday, we signed an important memorandum in Spain for one of our projects.”

He stated that Turkey has gone from a country that begged for defense equipment to one whose doors are now being knocked on, reflecting a major shift in global defense perception.

Erdoğan also pointed to around-the-clock construction efforts in earthquake-affected zones, calling the area “the world’s largest construction site.”

“The Cost of Terrorism Reached $2 Trillion”

Erdoğan underscored the long-term toll of terrorism on the Turkish economy and society:

“Turkey endured 41 years of separatist terrorism, during which over 10,000 security personnel were martyred.”

He revealed that the direct and indirect economic cost of terrorism to Turkey has reached $2 trillion.

“Achieving a terror-free Turkey requires your support. Your constructive and guiding policies are crucial for us to reach our national economic goals.”
