Interior Minister Yerlikaya Details Fire Damage Across 13 Provinces: 407 Homes Severely Affected Since June 1

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya has shared detailed figures on the impact of forest fires that have occurred across 13 provinces in Turkey since June 1, 2025. According to his statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), the fires have caused severe damage to 407 residences, 17 businesses, and 96 barns nationwide.

Province-by-Province Damage Breakdown

Minister Yerlikaya’s damage assessment revealed the following numbers:

  • İzmir: 288 buildings, 320 units, 252 homes, 13 businesses, 27 barns

  • Bilecik: 134 buildings, 157 units, 75 homes, 3 businesses, 33 barns

  • Hatay: 4 buildings, 4 units, 1 barn

  • Çanakkale: 8 buildings, 9 units, 2 homes, 6 barns

  • Tekirdağ: 12 buildings, 13 units, 1 home, 11 barns

  • Sakarya: 10 buildings, 12 units, 7 homes, 2 barns

  • Karabük: 64 buildings, 74 units, 45 homes, 3 barns

  • Antalya: 7 buildings, 7 units, 3 homes, 1 barn

  • Ankara: 8 buildings, 12 units, 11 homes

  • Uşak: 11 buildings, 13 units, 4 homes, 7 barns

  • Mersin: 6 buildings, 6 units, 3 homes

  • Bursa: 5 units, 1 home, 1 business, 3 barns

  • Kahramanmaraş: 4 buildings, 5 units, 3 homes, 2 barns

Emergency Response: Containers for Shelter

Yerlikaya also reported that 105 emergency shelter containers were dispatched to the affected areas. So far, 63 containers have been installed, including:

  • İzmir: 26

  • Bilecik: 27

  • Sakarya: 3

  • Karabük: 7

The minister emphasized the urgent need for public vigilance, especially during hot summer months, to prevent further forest damage.

“We urge all citizens to be extra cautious. May God protect our country and people from all disasters,” Yerlikaya said.
