No Agreement in Public Sector Wage Talks: Decision Moves to Arbitration Board
Minimum Wage by Patrick Chappatte
The highly anticipated collective bargaining negotiations for millions of public servants and retirees in Türkiye have ended without agreement. The government’s final offer was rejected by Memur-Sen, the authorized confederation representing civil servants, pushing the process to the Public Servants Arbitration Board, whose ruling will be final and binding.
Government’s Final Offer
-
2026: 11% raise in the first half of the year, 7% in the second half
-
2027: 4% raise in the first half, 4% in the second half
Memur-Sen deemed the offer insufficient, citing the rising cost of living and inflationary pressures.
Arbitration Board to Deliver the Verdict
With no compromise reached, the Arbitration Board will now step in to assess both sides’ demands. Its decision will directly determine the salary increases for millions of public employees and pensioners, making it a critical turning point for household budgets across the country.
