MHP’s Celal Adan on PKK Congress: “The Era of Blood and Hatred Has Ended”

Celal Adan

Following PKK’s announcement that it held its 12th congress between May 5–7 and would soon release the outcomes, MHP Parliamentary Group Deputy Chair Celal Adan issued a powerful statement declaring that “Türkiye’s deepest wound has been healed” and that the era of blood and hatred is over.

PKK’s congress comes 70 days after Abdullah Öcalan publicly called on the group to lay down arms and dissolve itself, marking a significant moment in Türkiye’s decades-long counterterrorism efforts.

Adan Credits Bahçeli’s Leadership for National Unity

Celal Adan praised MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli for what he described as steadfast leadership, stating:

“Thanks to the steel will and wise leadership of our leader Devlet Bahçeli, our deepest wound has been treated. The era of blood and hatred is over. Those who sow division and serve imperialism have lost; the Turkish nation has won. May our thousand-year brotherhood endure.”

His comments underscore the MHP’s framing of the disarmament as a nationalist victory and a milestone for Turkish unity and sovereignty.

PKK Statement Hints at Disbandment, Demands Öcalan’s Release

In its public message, PKK not only acknowledged the congress but also hinted at historic decisions being made, which will be shared with the public soon. The group also reiterated a call for Abdullah Öcalan’s physical release, further amplifying political tensions surrounding the disarmament process.

DEM Party: “Let Türkiye’s Peace Be an Inspiration”

Following the PKK congress, the Peoples’ Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) also issued a statement, saying:

“Let Türkiye’s peace become a symbol of hope for the Middle East and an inspiration for the world.”

The remarks reflect how different political factions are interpreting the same development—with nationalist parties viewing it as a final victory, and pro-Kurdish parties framing it as a step toward reconciliation.
