Leaked SONAR Poll Shows CHP Leading AKP by 6 Points After İmamoğlu’s Arrest

election

A confidential political poll allegedly conducted by SONAR Research and distributed exclusively to its VIP subscribers has been leaked on social media. The data reportedly reflects a shift in public sentiment following the arrest of CHP’s presidential candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu, with the CHP now leading by 6 points over the ruling AKP.

CHP Leads with 36.2%, AKP Trails at 30.6%

According to the leaked figures, the Republican People’s Party (CHP) is polling at 36.2%, maintaining its position as the leading political party. The Justice and Development Party (AKP) follows at 30.6%, showing a noticeable decline.

This 6-point gap appears to reflect increased political mobilization and public backlash following recent political developments, especially İmamoğlu’s detention and the resulting protests across Türkiye.

Other Parties Trail with Smaller Shares

The Peoples’ Equality and Democracy Party (DEM) comes in third with 8.2%, while the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) registers 7.6%.

  • Good Party (İYİ Parti): 7.2%

  • Victory Party (Zafer Partisi): 4.6%

  • New Welfare Party (Yeniden Refah): 3.9%

The results show a fragmented political landscape beyond the top two contenders, with opposition parties collectively gaining momentum.

Electoral Shifts Driven by İmamoğlu Arrest Fallout

Experts suggest the surge in support for CHP may be linked to the public’s reaction to İmamoğlu’s imprisonment, which has triggered nationwide protests and social media campaigns. While the data has not been officially confirmed by SONAR, its wide circulation has already shaped political discourse and early election speculation.
