Khazna to Build 100MW AI-Ready Data Centre in Ankara

Khazna Data Centres, the UAE-based digital infrastructure arm of G42, has announced plans to develop a next-generation data centre in Ankara, Türkiye. The facility will be located in the Başkent Organized Industrial Zone and is expected to support workloads of up to 100 megawatts (MW), focusing on AI, cloud, and other mission-critical applications.
This marks Khazna’s first major investment in Türkiye’s tech sector and highlights its commitment to global data centre expansion.
Modular Design for AI and Cloud Evolution
The initial phase of the Ankara data centre will cater primarily to cloud infrastructure, but its modular architecture allows for seamless scalability to accommodate AI processing, enterprise IT, and emerging digital workloads. Khazna emphasized that the centre is built with adaptability in mind to support the ever-evolving technological landscape.
“Our goal is to future-proof the facility by aligning it with global standards in energy, efficiency, and sustainability,” Khazna said in its statement.
Sustainable Tech-First Infrastructure
Consistent with its sustainability-driven development model, the Ankara facility will integrate:
-
Low global warming potential refrigerants (non-HFC),
-
Solar photovoltaic panels,
-
Recycled and low-carbon materials,
-
Solar water heating systems,
-
High-efficiency adiabatic chillers for optimal free cooling use,
-
Wastewater reuse systems, and
-
Backup generators powered by hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO).
These innovations aim to minimize environmental impact while ensuring energy efficiency and resilient operations in line with international green standards.
Construction Timeline and Strategic Outlook
Khazna plans to appoint a general contractor in Q2 2025. Upon completion, the company intends to deepen its footprint in Türkiye by expanding its data centre network and exploring further AI infrastructure investments in the region.
This move positions Ankara as a rising hub for regional digital transformation, as Türkiye continues to attract foreign investment in cloud and AI infrastructure.
