Istanbul Consumer Prices Up 1.77% in June 2025, Annual Inflation Hits 44.38%

The Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO) reported that consumer prices in Istanbul rose 1.77% in June 2025, based on the ITO Istanbul Consumer Price Index (2023=100). Compared to June 2024, annual inflation in Türkiye’s largest city reached 44.38%, underscoring persistent cost-of-living pressures in urban areas.
Housing and Furnishing Costs Lead Monthly Gains
According to ITO’s breakdown, the largest monthly increase came from the Housing expenditures group, which rose by 2.70%, followed by:

The only category showing a decline was Recreation and Culture, with a slight -0.07% drop.
Price Drivers: Public Utilities and Seasonal Trends
Price increases in housing and public services, particularly from state-regulated utilities, as well as market-driven shifts in furniture, transport, and hotel services, were key contributors to the overall monthly inflation. Additionally, seasonal effects pushed food prices higher.
Wholesale Prices Surge 1.93% in June
ITO also released its Wholesale Price Index, which rose by 1.93% in June, following a 0.69% gain in May. On a year-over-year basis, wholesale prices climbed 24.13%, while the 12-month average increase reached 37.36%.
