German Activists Urge Government to End Support for Israel Amid Gaza Genocide Claims

Gaza Massacre

At a press conference held at the Federal Press Conference Hall in Berlin, prominent human rights activists, NGO representatives, and academics called on the German government to take immediate action under international law to stop what they describe as Israel’s genocidal campaign in Gaza. They warned that Germany risks becoming an accomplice to war crimes through its continued arms exports and unconditional political support for Israel.

“Gaza Has Been Turned Into a Starvation Zone”

Speaking on behalf of Medico International, Middle East expert Riad Othman accused Israel of deliberately using starvation as a weapon of war, attacking aid convoys, and systematically destroying Gaza’s agricultural infrastructure.

“Even Israel’s own COGAT data proves that humanitarian aid deliveries fall far below the UN’s minimum requirements,” Othman noted. “Farming, food production, and critical infrastructure in Gaza have been demolished. For many, it’s already too late — even restarting aid now is not enough.”

Amnesty: Germany Must Halt Arms Exports to Israel

Dr. Julia Duchrow, Secretary General of Amnesty International Germany, stated bluntly:

“Starving civilians is a war crime. If it’s systematic, it constitutes a crime against humanity. Based on our research, it qualifies as genocide.”

She emphasized Germany’s legal obligation under EU treaties to suspend cooperation with states committing international crimes, warning that inaction equates to complicity.

Parallels Drawn Between Gaza and Srebrenica

Professor Ger Duijzings from Regensburg University compared the current situation in Gaza to the 1995 Srebrenica massacre, noting chilling similarities:

“The deliberate deprivation, displacement, and targeting of civilians are unfolding in full view of the international community—just like Srebrenica.”

“Germany Is Financing the Genocide Economy”

Economist Prof. Dr. Christine Binzel from Friedrich-Alexander University accused Germany of bankrolling the destruction of Gaza through arms trade, scientific cooperation, and economic ties with Israel.

“This violates not only international law but also the German constitution,” Binzel argued. “Gaza is not just a military crisis—it’s a systematic eradication.”

She cited rulings and statements by the International Court of Justice and International Criminal Court that confirm the use of starvation as a recognized element of genocide.

“Unconditional Support Is No Longer Tenable”

Speakers at the press conference concluded with a joint message:

“Germany’s uncritical support of Israel is no longer morally, legally, or politically sustainable. The blockade must end. Arms sales must stop. Germany must no longer be complicit in this crime.”
