Fuel Prices Surge Again as Diesel Tops 55 TL in Major Cities

Gas Prices

Fuel prices in Türkiye are climbing yet again, with diesel (motorin) experiencing a fresh ₺1.20 per liter hike as of July 9, 2025. The increase has pushed diesel prices past the ₺55 mark in major cities like Istanbul, Ankara, and İzmir, while gasoline and LPG continue their upward trend.

Diesel Price Sees Second Major Hike in July

The latest price adjustment follows a series of increases triggered by fluctuations in exchange rates, rising global crude oil prices, and tax hikes, notably the Special Consumption Tax (ÖTV) update earlier this month.

According to fuel industry sources, this newest hike brings the total diesel price increase in July to over ₺3 per liter, after a ₺2.12 hike on July 1.

Fuel Prices Under Pressure

With global oil prices remaining volatile and domestic taxation policies under strain, fuel prices in Türkiye are expected to remain elevated in the near term. Analysts warn that unless there is relief from exchange rate pressure or fiscal adjustments, motorists may continue to face regular hikes.
