Foreign Investors Buy $1.1B in Turkish Bonds, $125M in Equities

Foreign investors increased their exposure to Turkish assets during the week ending July 15, according to data from the Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye (CBRT).

Strong Bond Purchases, Moderate Equity Inflows

  • Equities: Foreigners made a net purchase of $125.1 million in Turkish stocks (parity and price-adjusted).

  • Government Bonds (DİBS – outright): Net inflows reached $1.099 billion.

  • Government Bonds (DİBS – collateralized): Net purchases totaled $1.377 billion.

  • Government Bonds (DİBS – reverse repo): Net inflows were $96.8 million.

  • Other sector debt instruments (excluding general government): Net sales of $9.7 million.

No transactions were recorded in DİBS (lending) for the week.

Foreign Holdings in Turkish Assets

By July 15, foreign investors’ total holdings were valued at:

  • Equities: $33.67 billion

  • Government Bonds (outright): $14.73 billion

  • Government Bonds (reverse repo): $1.60 billion

  • Government Bonds (collateralized): $4.53 billion

  • Non-government sector debt instruments: $831.3 million

The data highlights strong foreign appetite for Turkish bonds, while equity inflows remain moderate.
