Credit card usage in Türkiye surged to historic levels in June 2025, with total card-based spending exceeding ₺1.9 trillion, according to data from the Interbank Card Center (BKM). This marks a 51% increase compared to the same period last year, fueled by a sharp rise in online transactions and widespread contactless payment adoption.
Credit Cards Dominate with ₺1.6 Trillion in Monthly Transactions
Credit cards remained the leading payment method, accounting for ₺1.6 trillion in total spend. In comparison:

Online Card Payments See 59% Growth
A key highlight in June was the massive growth in online spending, where internet-based card transactions soared 59% year-on-year, reaching ₺557.3 billion. This reflects Türkiye’s accelerating shift toward digital commerce and remote payment channels.
Of the 1.70 billion card payment transactions recorded in June, an overwhelming 80% were made via contactless methods, signaling changing consumer behavior in favor of speed and convenience.
Total Number of Cards in Türkiye Hits 453.5 Million
The number of cards in circulation also reached an all-time high, with 453.5 million active cards as of June 2025:
