Bahçeli Dismisses Claims of Trustee Appointment to CHP

Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) leader Devlet Bahçeli strongly rejected allegations that the opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) could be placed under a government-appointed trustee, labeling the claims as “immoral and deliberately misleading.” In a statement shared via social media, Bahçeli said:
“Appointing a trustee to CHP is neither correct nor possible. The party has already become a self-destructive organization under de facto tutelage.”
His remarks came amid widespread political unrest and student protests following the arrest of Istanbul Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu.
“Students Belong in Classrooms, Not Streets”
Bahçeli criticized ongoing demonstrations by university and high school students, calling them “irresponsible and unlawful.” He accused the CHP leadership of provoking youth for political purposes:
“The place for students is school and the library, not the streets. Parents must protect their children from CHP’s dark propaganda.”
He warned that such mobilizations were undermining public order and societal peace, especially when fueled by “lies and provocations targeting national unity.”
“CHP Trying to Spark Chaos in Parliament”
Addressing recent developments in parliament, Bahçeli slammed CHP-affiliated Deputy Speaker’s move to read out a Constitutional Court ruling on imprisoned MP Can Atalay. He labeled the act a breach of parliamentary procedure and called for immediate resignations:
“This was a blatant overreach of authority and legally null. The Deputy Speaker and Clerk must step down.”
“No Legal Grounds for Appointing a Trustee to CHP”
Reacting to social media rumors about a possible trustee intervention in CHP, Bahçeli categorically denied the claims:
“Such rumors are baseless and serve no purpose other than provocation. There is no such agenda. The CHP is already collapsing under internal chaos and tutelage.”
He urged citizens to stay vigilant and avoid being swayed by unfounded speculation.
Message of Solidarity with Sırrı Süreyya Önder
Bahçeli also addressed the health of Parliament Deputy Speaker Sırrı Süreyya Önder from the DEM Party, who was recently hospitalized. Despite political differences, Bahçeli wished him a full recovery:
“We have a lot to do together for a terror-free Türkiye. May Allah and our doctors help him heal quickly.”
The Parliament had paused sessions due to Önder’s health, a move Bahçeli supported while accusing CHP of exploiting the gap to stir a crisis.
“Turkish Nation Is Our Sole Guarantee”
Concluding his statement, Bahçeli reaffirmed his commitment to the republic:
“The Turkish nation is our ultimate safeguard. The Republic of Türkiye will endure until the end of time.”
